Vol. 435 No. 10

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Frank Crowley

Question:

131 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be approved and paid a 1992 beef premium scheme December grant.

The person named has been deemed ineligible for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme as he failed to produce mart or factory dockets for three of the 21 animals missing at inspection. He did not apply for grants under the January-February 1993 or June 1993 special beef premium schemes.

John Ellis

Question:

132 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if a sheep headage and premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The first and second instalments of the 1993 ewe premium have not been paid to the person named as he has no quota. He has however applied for a quota from the national reserve. Applications for the national reserve are being processed at present and if the person named is successful his application for payment of ewe premium will then be processed. The person named also applied for grants under the 1992 and 1993 sheep headage scheme. Some checks remain to be carried out in respect of acreage declared on his application before payment can be processed and I have arranged for these to be carried out without delay.

John Ellis

Question:

133 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his Department have completed its investigations into the suckler premium of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Thirteen cows listed on the 1992 suckler cow premium scheme application from the person named were found in her son's herd on dates before and after the date of application. It will be necessary for the person named to explain satisfactorily how this occurred before a final decision can be made. With regard to her 1993 suckler cow premium application the position is that the herdowner applied for grants in respect of 16 cows but only presented three cows at inspection. Under EC regulations governing the scheme no grants are due as the applicant did not maintain the number of cows equal to that on which grants were applied for.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

134 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a bullock premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The application of the person named for grants under the June 1992 special beef premium was rejected at a computer validation check because of an invalid tag. The problem has now been resolved and payment will be made shortly. He did not apply for grants under the December 1992. January-February 1993 or June 1993 beef premium schemes.
