Question:

174 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if, in respect of primary, secondary, vocational, community and comprehensive teachers, she will give the total incremental salary payments made to full-time incremental teachers and the total deductions made in respect of PAYE, PRSI and pension contributions.

The total gross payments — i.e. salary and allowances — and the total deductations for PAYE, PRSI and contributions to the primary and secondary teachers superannuation schemes, in respect of full-time incremental secondary, community and comprehensive and primary teachers in the year ending 31 December, 1992 were as follows:

The figures in respect of primary teachers' salary represents an additional pay day which occurred in 1992 and therefore is in respect of approximately 12.72 months' salary. Vocational teachers are paid by individual Vocational Education Committees. Consequently the information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department for this group.
