Vol. 436 No. 1

Written Answers. - Land Commission Annuities Scheme.

Donal Moynihan

Question:

132 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the total number of farmers who benefited from the recent Land Commission annuities scheme; and the total amount of revenue which accrued under the scheme.

About 37,800 farmers out of a total of 42,500 annuitants benefited from the Land Commission annuities scheme either (i) by buying out their annuities at a discount of 50 per cent, (ii) by having their annuities written-off where they were less than £20 or (iii) by having their annuities reduced to a 10 per cent rate where they exceeded 10 per cent.

Approximately £10 million accrued to the Exchequer under the buy out scheme.
