Vol. 436 No. 2

Written Answers. - Athenry (Galway) National School.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

116 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Education if she has responded to the request from the parents and management of Athenry national school, County Galway regarding the appointment of a special remedial teacher to cater for the needs of a number of children at that school and in that area who are in need of special education; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I take it the Deputy is referring to Athenry boys' national school, which does not at present have the services of a remedial teacher.

My Department has not received an application for a remedial teacher from this school, but I am treating the Deputy's approach as a formal application.

The needs of this school will be considered along with all others when I am next in a position to appoint additional remedial teachers.
