Vol. 436 No. 3

Written Answers. - Land Registry Office, Waterford.

Austin Deasy

Question:

54 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice when it is intended to decentralise the Land Registry Office to Waterford; and the number of personnel that will be involved.

The decentralisation of part of the operations of the Land Registry to Waterford city is scheduled to take place in about two years' time when the new office accommodation being planned at present is expected to be ready for occupation. The number of personnel to be transferred is between 150 and 200.

The Office of Public Works has recently advertised for developers interested in providing the office accommodation and a study group comprising representatives of my Department, the Land Registry, the Department of Finance and the Office of Public Works are currently examing the various issues to be addressed in the decentralisation process, including the question as to what particular operations of the Land Registry should be transferred to Waterford city.
