Vol. 436 No. 3

Written Answers. - Extradition Requests.

John Connor

Question:

66 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Justice the steps, if any, she has taken or intends to take to have extradited, from Spain in particular, a number of well known persons from this country who have absconded in order to escape serious charges on foot of warrants issued in this country.

A decision on whether to proceed with the making of an extradition request to secure the return of a person from abroad to stand trial here is a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions who is independent in the exercise of his functions.
