Vol. 436 No. 3

Written Answers. - Compensation for Cereal Growers.

Robert Molloy

Question:

94 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the proposals, if any, he has to provide compensation for cereal growers affected by adverse weather conditions at harvest time; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Losses due to unfavourable weather conditions must be regarded as a normal commercial risk associated with cereals production. In those circumstances, I have no proposals to provide compensation for cereal growers affected by adverse weather conditions.
