Question:

181 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the reason no allocation was made in respect of small water and sewerage schemes for County Kildare in 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 180 and 181 together.

Grants totalling over £3.614 million have been allocated in 1993 towards the financing of a number of urgently required schemes in Kildare, including sewerage schemes to serve Robertstown, Athy, Kildare town, Leixlip, Kill-Johnstown, Newbridge and Maynooth and a water supply scheme at Kilcock.

Detailed arrangements for water and sanitary services schemes generally, including small schemes and group schemes, are being reviewed in the context of the post-1993 operational programme for environmental services now under preparation.
