Vol. 436 No. 5

Written Answers. - Collins Barracks, Dublin.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

143 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a statement on the up-to-date position in relation to the future use of Collins Barracks, Dublin 7; the sort of uses being considered for the Barracks; and whether any decision in the matter is likely in the near future.

Earlier this year when the property was offered for sale an acceptable bid was not received. Accordingly the Government decided not to proceed with the sale of the barracks. The future use of the property is at present under consideration. Pending the outcome of that consideration, the property continues to be used for military purposes.
