Question:164 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education the number of applications from schools in County Monaghan seeking placements of additional remedial teachers; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - County Monaghan Remedial Teacher Placements.
My Department currently has 14 applications for remedial teachers covering 37 schools in County Monaghan. I would also point out that three additional remedial teachers were allocated to County Monaghan in the recent allocation of remedial posts resulting in a further 13 schools receiving the service.
I will be keeping the question of further need in this area under review as part of a broader commitment to appoint a substantial number of additional teachers in the coming years. The needs of all schools, including the schools in County Monaghan will be considered in this context.
