Question:105 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for the Marine the reasons for the delay in appointing a chief executive to the Marine Institute; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 73 and 105 together.
The appointment of a chief executive officer is a matter for the board of the Marine Institute in the first instance. I can however advise the Deputy that the selection process for this appointment, which of necessity has taken some months to complete, is now in its final phase and I would expect the Institute to be in a position to formally announce an appointment shortly.
