Question:123 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he intends to continue using moneys from the European Social Fund to provide housing for the mentally handicapped.

My Department has central responsibility in Ireland for all policy and administrative matters relating to the European Social Fund. ESF aid is used to co-finance vocational training, the training of handicapped persons, training for the long term unemployed and employment schemes.
The regulations governing the European Social Fund preclude assistance to provide housing for disabled persons.
