Vol. 436 No. 8

Written Answers. - Career Guidance/Counselling.

Paul McGrath

Question:

91 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education the number of second level schools, in each category, which have the services of a full time career guidance and counselling teacher; and the plans, if any, she has to improve the access by schoolgoers to these services.

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 229 on Tuesday, 30 November 1993 in relation to guidance.

At the end of September 1992, 208 secondary, 54 community/comprehensive and 62 vocational schools had enrolments of 500 or more pupils and therefore qualified for an ex-quota allocation of a full teaching post in respect of guidance for the 1993-94 school year.
