Question:

111 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the extent to which he intends capital investment in telecommunications to expand in the next five years with particularly reference to the requirements of Telecom Éireann; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The National Development Plan, 1994-1999, shows that planned capital expenditure by Telecom Éireann over the period is some £870 million. The plan also outlines in broad terms the areas in which the company proposes to invest.
