Vol. 437 No. 2

Written Answers. - Cork Driving Test Centre.

Peter Barry

Question:

105 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the increasing number of driving test applicants, it is proposed to open an additional driving test centre in Cork; and if he will have arrangements made to have testing done in the evenings.

The overall number of applications for driving tests has been declining, rather than increasing in recent months and the average waiting period for a test is now, at only just over six weeks, the lowest ever. For this reason and because the existing number and locations of test centres are catering adequately for demand, I see no reason to either increase the number of test centres or provide for testing in the evenings.
