Question:

507 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the names of persons, other than those in the permanent Civil Service, who currently hold positions in his Department, Ministerial office, or the office of each Minister of State; the nature of the appointment; and the current salary payable.

There are currently six staff working for myself and the Minister of State, who are not permanent civil sevants. They are as follows:

One Personal Secretary on a scale of £7,665-£16,563

Ms Ann Kearns

One Personal Secretary on a scale of £7,665-£16,563

Ms Patricia Johnson

One Personal Assistant at a salary of £13,623

Ms Marian Treacy

One Press Officer at a salary of £32,500

Mr. Joe Jennings

Two Civilian Drivers at a salary of £12,555 each

Mr. John O'Grady Mr. Kevin Ussher

Two of the personal secretaries are staff of the Oireachtas and the personal assistant was appointed by the Minister of State. The press officer is on loan from Dublin Bus. Dublin Bus bill my Department for his time.
In addition, there are three non civil servants from consultancy firms serving in the Department under lateral mobility arrangements approved by the Department of Finance.
