Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Respite Beds.

John Bruton

Question:

534 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health if there has been any increase in the number of respite beds available in County Meath in 1993; and his views as to the number needed to meet demand.

The North-Eastern Health Board is responsible for the provision of respite beds for the elderly in County Meath. In 1993 two additional respite beds were made available in County Meath in addition to the 16 which were available at the beginning of the year. It is the Board's intention to increase the number by 25 per cent in 1994. The Board are confident that this increase would adequately meet the demand.
