Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

631 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education when the extra facilities required at Rathcoffey national school, County Kildare will be completed and ready for occupation; if such works will be completed in time for the 1994/1995 year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Question:

640 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the extent of her communication with the authorities at Rathcoffey national school, County Kildare in the period 10 December 1993 to 26 January 1994; if she intends the immediate implementation of the subject matter of such discussions; the extent and time schedule of such proposals; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 631 and 640 together.

I am pleased to say that my Department has recently informed the chairman of the board of management of Rathcoffey national school that the major building project for this school would be included in a phased programme for 1994 and that, subject to the completion of the necessary planning and tendering process, a contract for the project would be placed in the course of the year.

As all steps in the planning process are not within my Department's control it is not possible to say when the provision of these facilities will be completed. However, should there be any delay in placing the contract, this project will not lose its place in the priority listings.

Question:

639 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the extent of the proposals for the provision of a new school at Allen/Kilmeague national school, County Kildare in the period 1 December 1993 to 26 January 1994; if she intends the expenditure of the necessary funding to implement this project to be drawn down in 1994; the total anticipated expenditure in the current year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 632 and 639 together.

I am pleased to say that my Department has recently informed the chairman of the board of management of Allen national school that the major building project for this school would be included in a phased programme for 1994 and that, subject to the completion of the necessary planning and tendering process, a contract for the project would be placed in the course of the year.

As all steps in the planning process are not within my Department's control it is not possible to say when the provision of these facilities will be completed. Should there be any delay in placing the contract this project will not lose its place in the priority listings.

It is not possible to say at this stage what expenditure on this project will be incurred in the current year.
