Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Kildare Schools.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

637 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education whether she has responded in full to the requests from Kildare vocational education committee and the authorities at Maynooth Post Primary School, County Kildare for extra facilities at the school; if she will give details of the schedule of proposed works and the anticipated timescale for implementation of these works as at 26 January 1994; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department authorised County Kildare vocational education committee to have detailed drawings, specifications and tender documentation prepared for the following schedule of accommodation at this school: 3 general classrooms, 2 lecture rooms, 1 art/craft room and store, 1 mathematics room, toilet and circulation area.

The vocational education committee have recently sought approval for the inclusion of a number of additional facilities to the extension, including a link block office space and a boiler house. Their submission is currently being assessed and my Department will be in contact with the vocational education committee in due course.

This project is being considered for inclusion in the 1994 capital programme in the context of all the relevant building, educational and financial factors.

Bernard J. Durkan
