Question:129 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Taoiseach the volume of Christmas lights imported to this country in 1993.

The information requested by the Deputy is not yet available for 1993.
For 1992 the only information available is under the heading "Lighting sets of a kind used for Christmas trees". The volume of imports under this heading for 1992 was 78 tonnes. (In general it should be noted that commodity detail from external trade statistics does not include: (a) transactions (non-dutiable) of less than £200 for 1992; (b) trade by firms operating in Shannon Free Airport; and (c) postal packages not covered by customs entries).
