Vol. 438 No. 1

Written Answers. - Provision of Site for Post-Primary School.

Mary Wallace

Question:

149 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education if it is her Department's intention to provide temporary accommodation in a low cost building structure on the post-primary school site in Dunboyne, County Meath which is owned by the diocese; if a diocesan secondary school will proceed on this site in view of meetings between her Department, the Bishop of Meath and his representatives during 1993 as this information is urgently required to alleviate stress on parents who have no places for their children who will be attending first year in September 1994, and who are dependent on this green field school commencing at Dunboyne in a low cost building structure.

The type of management structure for the proposed new post-primary school for Dunboyne, County Meath, is under active consideration in my Department at present. I expect to have a decision in the matter shortly.

The question of opening the school in temporary accommodation next September will be considered when the management issue is resolved. You can be assured, however, that sufficient pupil places will be available for all Dunboyne children entering postprimary education in September 1994.
