Vol. 438 No. 3

Written Answers. - ENT Services.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

144 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Kerry is called for a tonsillitis operation to Tralee General Hospital, County Kerry, as soon as possible in view of the fact he has been waiting for this operation for two years.

Inquiries have been made of the Southern Health Board about this case. I understand that in July last an out-patient appointment was sought for this patient and that the appointment has been scheduled for 11 February 1994.

The Deputy will be aware that additional resources have been made available to the Southern Health Board over the last few years for the development of ENT services at Tralee General Hospital. In this regard, the Deputy will be pleased to learn that a new consultant ENT surgeon is expected to take up duty at the hospital in May of this year.
