Vol. 438 No. 4

Written Answers. - Bus Licence.

Jim Higgins

Question:

259 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications if he has satisfied himself that a person (details supplied) in County Mayo should continue to be licensed for the transport of passengers; and if he has further satisfied himself that the person in question has always abided by and is abiding by the condition of his past and present licences.

It is not departmental policy to disclose information on individual operators in the context of the licensing requirements for bus passenger operations. Licences to operate specific services are issued on the basis that all of the conditions attached thereto, including details of authorised routes will be strictly observed by the operators.

My Department supervises the operation of the bus licensing systems and if it discovers that infringements of the conditions attached to the relevant licences are occurring appropriate action is taken. I am arranging to have the information, submitted by the Deputy in relation to the operator concerned, investigated.
