Vol. 438 No. 5

Written Answers. - Horse Racing Authority.

Ivan Yates

Question:

169 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will ensure that there is adequate representation of the ordinary paying customer and punter on a new Horse Racing Authority so that it is adequately representative of consumer interests; if he will have arrangements made to have a nominee of the Racing Club of Ireland included; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is my intention that the ordinary paying customer and punter will be adequately represented on the new Horse Racing Authority. The draft Bill establishing the authority will come before the Houses of Oireachtas shortly following Government approval to circulate the Bill.
