54 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice the action, if any, she intends to take in relation to the recommendation of the Fair Trade Commission to extend the remit of the independent legal adjudicator to cover barristers.

I recently published the Solicitors (Amendment) Bill, 1994, which provides for the establishment of an independent adjudicator to investigate complaints about the Law Society's handling of complaints against solicitors.

Any proposals I may have in regard to barristers will be announced in the normal way in due course.
