Vol. 439 No. 2

Written Answers. - Employment Safety Representatives.

Tony Gregory

Question:

72 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Defence, arising from his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 346 of 26 January 1994, the outcome of his Department's deliberations on the matter raised; and, if he has satisfied himself that there was a full and fair investigation of the incidents and issues involved.

The position is that in November 1992 a civilian employed with the Defence Forces was suspended for a period of three days as a disciplinary measure. This was appealed and, following a meeting held early in 1993 with the employee and an official from his trade union, the period of suspension was reduced to two days. I am satisfied that all the issues involved in the matter were thoroughly and fairly investigated.
