131 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the counties where MMDS is now operational; if he has received any feed-back or submissions from areas where MMDS is operational; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The MMDS system is now operational in all counties with the exceptions of Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Mayo and Wicklow. It should be noted that the service is not yet available in all parts of the counties where it is operational.
With its responsibilities for the regulation of Multi-Channel TV my Department would be regularly in receipt of correspondence from a variety of interests with regard to the operation of MMDS. In general the reaction to the provision of the service is very positive.
