Vol. 439 No. 3

Written Answers. - Galway Cheshire Home Committee.

Robert Molloy

Question:

79 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the application for grant-aid to Galway Cheshire Home Committee; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The project is one proposed to be undertaken with the assistance available for the provision of housing accommodation by approved voluntary housing bodies. My Department's involvement relates primarily to the provision, within the allocation available in the Public Capital Programme, of funds for individual projects. The detailed administration of this scheme of assistance, including certification that particular projects comply with the terms of the scheme, is the responsibility of the local authority, in this instance Galway Corporation.

It is understood that certain information regarding the project referred to has been sought by the corporation from the voluntary body concerned and, when this is to hand, their application will be further considered by the Corporation.
