128 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health the number of children currently awaiting orthodontic treatment in all categories in the Eastern Health Board areas seven and eight; the measures, if any, he has taken to date to improve the situation; if he will consider new innovative measures in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to reply directly to the Deputy's specific questions as a matter of urgency.
In 1993 I allocated an additional £2 million for developments in the dental services including the development of orthodontic services. This year I will provide further resources to the health boards to continue the development of orthodontic services.
