Vol. 439 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rathfarnham (Dublin) School.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

139 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education if she supports the request by Ballyowen Meadows School for shared accommodation at Loreto national school, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, a portion of which has already been assigned to the South City School Project; and if such a proposal is feasible in view of the strong belief by Ballyowen Meadows School that such a partnership could be of mutual benefit to both schools.

As I indicated to the House on 17 November 1993, my Department is actively engaged in seeking alternative accommodation for Ballyowen Meadows Special School.

As part of that process, officials of my Department have met with representatives of the school's Patron, the Eastern Health Board. A number of possible solutions were discussed at this meeting and my Department is currently awaiting a formal response from the Eastern Health Board.
