Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ennis (Clare) School Hall.

Donal Carey

Question:

180 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he has received an application from a person (details supplied) in County Clare who is seeking a grant for rewiring and replacement of fittings at the school hall at Holy Family senior school, Convent of Mercy, Ennis, County Clare; and if his attention has been drawn to the extensive activities which are undertaken in these premises annually and to the fact that this is the only substantial hall in the Ennis area of County Clare.

While I am aware of the difficulties in this case, the position is that my Department has no responsibility for the maintenance of schools such as the Holy Family senior school in Ennis. In these circumstances, I see no option but to refer the representations I have received to my colleague, the Minister for Education, Deputy Bhreathnach, for her consideration.
