215 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if a higher education or vocational education committee grant will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Kildare; if so, when; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I understand from County Kildare Vocational Education Committee, which is the body entrusted with the administration of the ESF Maintenance Grants Scheme in this case that one of the students who entered in the 1993-94 academic year has been deemed ineligible for a maintenance grant on the basis that the family reckonable income exceeded the prescribed income limit. The other student in question is ineligible to be considered for grant aid as she is not enrolled in college in the 1993-94 academic year.
I would refer the Deputy to County Kildare Vocational Education Committee for any further information he may require.
