Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Parents' Council Funding.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

223 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education the level of funding provided by her Department for representative bodies of parents, such as the National Parents Council.

The National Parents' Council is the only representative body of parents which receives funding from my Department. Since 1991, in accordance with a commitment in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, an annual grant of £25,000 each has been paid to the primary and post-primary tiers of the council. I am pleased to state that the grant to each tier of the council will be increased to £30,000 for 1994.
