Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Killinarden (Dublin) Community School.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

221 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education whether she has a priority list of schools which need PE halls; where Killinarden community school, Tallaght, Dublin 24, is placed on the list; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Due to demands on the capital resources available, priority has been given for some time to the provision of essential teaching spaces. As a result it is not possible in present circumstances to grant aid the provision of physical education halls at existing schools which are without such facilities.

Provision of PE facilities in such schools will resume as soon as pressure on available resources for classroom accommodation has eased. My Department does not have a priority list at present of schools which are in need of such facilities.
