15 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education, in relation to St. Michael's national school, Woodbrook, Carrick-on-Shannon, County Roscommon, if funding to carry out repairs are included in her 1994 school improvement programme; if so, when she envisages the work will start and finish; and if all the repairs and refurbishment requested and needed will be included.
I am happy to inform the Deputy that my Department will shortly initiate the physical planning of a major building project at this school, which will include the provision of adequate classroom and requisite ancillary accommodation.
I can assure the Deputy that there will be no delay in progressing this project but due to factors outside my Department's control, e.g. the need to secure planning permission and fire authority approval and the tendering and contractual process, it is not possible to say when the work will commence.
In the circumstances this project is not formally listed in the 1994 national school capital programme.
