Vol. 439 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kilrush (Clare) Urban Renewal Scheme.

Donal Carey

Question:

95 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received an application from Kilrush UDC for an extension of urban designated areas of Kilrush; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there are substantial funds available for projects associated with this development.

A submission has been received from Kilrush UDC. In addition to those towns already included in the existing urban renewal scheme, the Minister for Finance announced in his Financial Statement that it has been decided to designate certain areas in the following towns for a new urban renewal scheme: Ballinasloe, Dungarvan, Enniscorthy, Killarney, Mallow, Monaghan, Mullingar, Navan, Nenagh, Newbridge, Roscommon and Wicklow. It is not proposed at present to extend the scheme to other towns.
