Tony Gregory

Question:

85 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of documents withheld from the national archives by his Department since the National Archives Act; the reason documents were withheld; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has retained a total of 73 files under the provisions of the National Archives Act, 1986. The files have been retained in my Department on the basis that they meet with the criteria for such retention set down under sections 8 (2) and 8 (4) of the 1986 Act.

In addition, in accordance with an order made by an Taoiseach under section 8 (11) of the Act, personnel and pension case files and related records concerning individual civil and public servants are withheld.
