Vol. 440 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Settlement.

Bernard Allen

Question:

49 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of money paid to the legal representative of a person (details supplied) in County Cork who is unable to find out the payment made to her solicitor by his Department; the amount of money paid to her solicitor on her behalf; the cost involved; the terms of the settlement; and the headings under which the money was specifically paid.

The person concerned was one of a number of plaintiffs who initiated proceedings arising from the delay in implementing EC Directive 79/7. In the absence of implementing measures settlements were made in these cases subject to conditions of confidentiality. Accordingly I am not in a position to provide the information sought.
