Written Answers - Charter for ME Sufferers.

154 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health the plans, if any, he has to introduce a charter setting out caring objectives for patients with ME and for their carers, which will cover primary care needs, acute hospital care requirements, community care and appropriate convalescent care; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has already issued a Charter of Rights for Hospital Patients and is reviewing it on an ongoing basis. I intend to issue a charter in the near future concerning the health care needs of people with disabilities including ME sufferers and their carers.
