Vol. 441 No. 3

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the need to restore the District Court sitting to Ballincollig community centre, County Cork, as the present arrangement is proving unsatisfactory; (2) Deputy Shatter — the need to review the criteria for eligibility to become a member of an Garda Síochána as advertised in the newspapers on Sunday, 10 April 1994; (3) Deputy Keogh — the delay in funding of marriage counselling services in the light of the £75,000 promised in the 1994 budget to marriage counselling services provided by voluntary and community organisations; (4) Deputy Deenihan — the potential serious implications for Irish tourism of the suggestion by the European Commission of a minimum of 175 ECU which a non-European Union resident must spend before he or she will be entitled to reclaim VAT on goods personally purchased for export home; (5) Deputy Kirk — the need to provide the necessary finance to build a pedestrain bridge across the inner relief road at Quay Street, Dundalk, County Louth, in view of the very high accident rate at this junction.

The matters raised by the following Deputies have been selected for discussion: Deputies Deenihan; Batt O'Keeffe; Shatter and Keogh.
