Vol. 441 No. 3

Written Answers - Cat Scanning Services.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

24 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the cat-scanner fundraising committee at Cavan General Hospital, County Cavan are about to purchase a cat-scanner for the hospital at a cost of over £300,000; in view of the effort of this committee, if he will fund on an ongoing basis the operation of this machine; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of services at Cavan General Hospital is a matter for the North Eastern Health Board in the first instance. The question of the development of CT scanning services at the hospital will have to be considered by the board in the light of its competing service priorities for development and the resources at its disposal.
