Question:

129 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when 1993 headage and suckler grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named applied for 1993 cattle headage grant but when his application was processed it was rejected due to inaccuracies in his area aid application. These have now been resolved and any payment due will issue in the near future. He cannot be paid any 1993 suckler cow premium as he has no quota at present. If he succeeds in obtaining a quota from the national reserve his 1993 suckler cow application will be considered.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme is being processed at present and any advance payment due will be made shortly.

Payment of balance cannot be made until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density.

Question:

132 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a suckler premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person in question applied for the suckler cow premium scheme for small scale milk suppliers on 27 cows in 1993.

Under the terms and conditions of this scheme producers must have suckler cows in excess of the number of cows required to produce their milk quota and maintain those suckler cows to produce and rear calves for meat production.

The information provided by the herdowner on his application subsequently failed to satisfy this requirement.
