Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Gerard C. Connolly

Question:

164 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the balance of 1993 suckler cow premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

Payment of the balance of the 1993 suckler cow premium cannot be made to the person named until all applications received from him in the course of 1993 have been processed. This is necessary to ensure compliance with EU regulations covering in particular the ceiling on eligible animals and stocking density. His application is now being processed further and any balance due will be paid shortly.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

165 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a grant under the special beef premium which is due since November 1992 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named applied for special beef premium on 30 animals in December 1992. As he notified the local livestock office that one animal died after he had applied his application was processed for payment on 29 animals. At computer validation the application was rejected because of one invalid tag. This was corrected and when revalidated the altered tag number related to an animal already paid for in a herd in County Cork. Arrangements are now being made to pay premium on 28 animals. Further investigation of the tag number problem will be carried out and payment will be made in respect of the animal concerned if and when this problem is resolved.

He also applied for one animal under the ten month and seven animals under the 22 month special beef premium in June 1993. Advance payments on foot of these applications were made on 15 December 1993. Payment of balances under the 1993 special beef premium scheme will commence shortly.
