Vol. 441 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Liz McManus

Question:

59 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Education in view of the confusion that arose recently regarding the provision of a school bus service for children in the Kilcoole area of County Wicklow who are attending second level schools in Wicklow Town, the plans, if any, she has for the provision of a bus service from September 1994; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Transport has been provided for the 11 pupils in question from the reopening after the Easter holiday period. It is my intention to continue to provide transport at the same level from September 1994. As I told the Deputy, in reply to Parliamentary Question 227, on 1 March, the arrangement will be subject to review, following completion of the Department's assessment of the application for a new second-level school in Kilcoole, and of the medium-term demands for accommodation in the Bray/Greystones and Wicklow catchment areas.
