Question:88 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine if he will approve and authorise an increase of pay in respect of an employee of the Western Fisheries Board (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The officer referred to submitted an upgrading claim which was the subject of a Labour Relations Commission hearing. The implications of the commission's recommendation are being examined by the Central Fisheries Board which co-ordinates personnel and pay policy in respect of the regional fisheries boards. It is now a matter for the central board to make a proposal in relation to the resolution of the claim. The Department of the Marine, on receipt of the central board's proposals, which are expected within the next few weeks, will consult with the Department of Finance whose sanction to all upgradings is required.
