Vol. 441 No. 8

Written Answers. - Anti-Trespass Legislation.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

123 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform his views on whether it is necessary to introduce legislation against mass trespass, especially in relation to the travelling community camping beside existing halt sites and group housing schemes.

The Task Force on the Travelling Community has commissioned in-depth research on a range of accommodation-related issues including movement or nomadism, extended family structure and forms of employment and economic activity in the travelling community. In advance of completion of this research, and on receipt of the Task Force's recommendation on the subject, I do not intend to form any views about legislation on mass trespass, especially in relation to the travelling community.
