Vol. 441 No. 8

Written Answers. - O'Connell Boys National School.

Tony Gregory

Question:

140 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education if O'Connell boys national school, North Richmond Street, Dublin 1, is recognised by her Department as serving a disadvantaged area; if the school has additional staff on that basis; and her response to the submission from the school principal for extra staff.

The school referred to by the Deputy is recognised by my Department as a school serving a disadvantaged area and as such has an additional concessionary teaching post and received additional capitation funding at the rate of £17 per pupil.

The school is also included in the home school community liaison scheme and has the services of a home school community liaison co-ordinator.

My Department has no record of the submission referred to by the Deputy. However, if he would like to make the relevant details available to me I can have the matter examined without delay.
