Question:143 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if she will make a capital allocation to Galway Regional Technical College for the construction of an art annexe to the college.

A sum of around £4 million has recently been expended by my Department on the provision of improved facilities at Galway Regional Technical College. Provision has also been made for further capital developments at the College in my departments' submission to the European Union for funding under the European Regional Development Fund programme 1994-99.
Consultations are ongoing between my Department and the college authorities in connection with the provision within the programme of additional facilities for a number of areas including Art.
