Question:7 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Taoiseach the number of deaths, births and marriages for each county for each of the years 1990 to 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The information requested by the Deputy is contained, in so far as is available, in a statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.
The data for births and deaths in respect of 1990 and 1991 relate to events which actually occurred in those years; while for 1992 and 1993 (6 months) the data relate to events registered in those periods. Deaths are classified to the county of residence of the deceased. Births are classified to the county of residence of the mother.
The data for marriages relate to events registered in the periods, classified according to the place of registration irrespective of the place of residence of the bride and groom.

I thank the Minister for his reply. Will he pluck from his statistics the births and deaths figures for Dublin and Connacht for 1993?
I do not have that information but I will supply the Deputy with the figures he requested.
