Vol. 442 No. 1

Written Answers. - Unfair Competition.

Michael Noonan

Question:

82 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Environment the regulations he has in place to ensure that no unfair competition takes place between holders of hackney licences and holders of PSV taxi licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 to 1993 set out, inter alia, the specific functions assigned to public hire vehicles, taxis, and provide that private hire vehicles, hackneys, may not carry out these functions. The enforcement of the regulations is a matter for the Garda Síochána.
